Itinerary
Your safari adventure begins in Nairobi, Kenya. After an early breakfast, depart for the world-renowned Masai Mara National Reserve, one of Africa’s most iconic wildlife destinations.
The journey takes you through scenic landscapes, and upon arrival, check into your safari lodge or camp. In the afternoon, embark on your first game drive, allowing you to witness the incredible diversity of wildlife in this pristine wilderness.
Spend the entire day exploring the Masai Mara, known for its abundant wildlife. You’ll have the opportunity to witness the Great Migration if you visit during the migration season, from July to October. Our experienced guide will take you on morning and afternoon game drives to maximize your wildlife viewing experiences.
After breakfast, bid farewell to the Masai Mara and drive back to Nairobi. Proceed to the border and cross into Tanzania, heading to Arusha. This bustling city is the gateway to many of Tanzania’s incredible safari destinations. Upon arrival in Arusha, check into your accommodation venue and rest.
Set out early for a scenic drive to the Serengeti National Park. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is known for its vast savannahs and exceptional wildlife populations. Enjoy a game drive as you head to your accommodation venue.
Spend a full day exploring the Serengeti to witness lions, cheetahs, giraffes, and many other incredible animals in their natural habitat. Our expert guide will take you to the best areas for wildlife sightings and help you make the most of your safari experience.
Head to the Ngorongoro Crater, another unique and stunning wildlife destination, after a morning game drive in the Serengeti. After descending into the crater, often called Africa’s Eden, embark on a game drive. This caldera is home to a high wildlife population, making it one of the best places for animal sightings.
After a final morning game drive in the Ngorongoro Crater, enjoy a picnic lunch on the way to Arusha.
Enjoy the road trip from Arusha to Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania’s largest city and a vibrant coastal hub. Upon arrival, check into your hotel, and depending on your arrival time, explore the city’s markets and beaches. Alternatively, unwind on the beach.
Catch a ferry to the enchanting island of Zanzibar, where you’ll arrive in the historic Stone Town. This UNESCO World Heritage site is famous for its narrow streets, historic architecture, and rich cultural heritage. The ferry ride takes between two to three hours.
Our itinerary for the three days on this island will have one night in Stone Town and two nights on the beach. While the package covers accommodation and breakfast in Stone Town, the rest of the meals during these three days are exclusive.
You may spend $200 and $300 on tours, meals, souvenirs, and accommodation upgrades. However, this is a general recommendation, as there are varying spending habits and preferences.
Travel to Nungwi on the northern coast of Zanzibar, known for its beautiful beaches and vibrant marine life. Relax by the ocean, explore the village, or engage in water sports activities, like snorkeling and diving.
Enjoy a full day of leisure in Nungwi, soaking up the sun, swimming in the crystal-clear waters, and perhaps taking a boat trip to explore nearby islands and coral reefs.
Return to Dar Es Salaam by ferry for your overland truck journey to Southern Africa. Spend the night at a campsite on the outskirts of Dar Es Salaam.
Depart Dar Es Salaam for Iringa, a picturesque town in Tanzania’s southern highlands. Our journey takes us through the Mikumi National Park, offering a chance to spot giraffes, antelopes, and uniquely small-statured elephants—victims of gene pool depletion due to poaching.
Today, you’ll cross the border into Malawi, heading to Chitimba on the shores of Lake Malawi. This beautiful lake offers opportunities for swimming, kayaking, or simply relaxing on the beach. It covers over 30% of the country.
Malawi, a charming country in central southern Africa, is characterized by its abundant water bodies and rugged terrain. Hence, you explore various small bays along the lakeshore, where you can indulge in activities like snorkeling, diving, or simply relaxing on the pristine beaches.
Exploring local villages and bustling markets, brimming with woodcarvings, including the famous oversized carved chairs, is also on the agenda. Just keep in mind the logistics of transporting these sizable chairs back home!
Continue your journey along the shores of Lake Malawi to Kande Beach. Unwind on the sandy shores, visit local villages, and enjoy the laid-back atmosphere.
Enjoy a full day at Kande Beach, taking in the serene beauty of Lake Malawi and the friendly local culture. You can also opt for water activities or explore the surrounding areas.
Drive to Malawi’s capital city, Lilongwe. You’ll have the afternoon to explore the city’s markets, gardens, and cultural attractions.
Cross the border into Zambia and head to Chipata. Along the way, you notice the changing scenery as you move deeper into Southern Africa. Spend the night in Chipata, where you can unwind with refreshing drinks and hot showers.
Continue your journey to Lusaka, Zambia’s capital city. Explore the city’s vibrant markets and museums, and enjoy Zambian cuisine. The truck takes you through the city center en route to our campsite.
Drive to Livingstone, home to the stunning Victoria Falls. Upon arrival, witness the awe-inspiring Victoria Falls from the Zambian side or visit the Livingstone Museum.
Your safari culminates with a visit to Victoria Falls, one of the most impressive natural wonders in the world. Cross the border into Victoria Falls town, Zimbabwe, to immerse yourself in numerous thrilling activities.
One such adventure is a three-hour evening cruise on the Zambezi River, drinks included. You can also opt for a full day of white water rafting. The Lower Zambezi has over 14 rapids of over grade 4. However, this activity isn’t available from March to May. The other unforgettable activity is bungee jumping over 100 meters. If you still have time during the two days, ride a helicopter over the falls or go jet boating. Accommodation for the night is inclusive, and the entrance to Victoria Falls (about 20 USD) is exclusive.
We recommend not scheduling onward flights until the day after, and if you must fly out on the final day, please book a flight no earlier than 9 p.m. to account for potential delays. Some members may continue the journey to Cape Town, and new members may join for the southern leg of the tour.
